Mila Kunis

The 2012 Golden Globes-Best & Worst Dressed

Last night at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards,  there were some amazing dresses on display.  Of all of the gowns, my pick for best dressed of the night, was definitely Emma Stone.  She was a standout in her stunning Lanvin dress with the vintage stone embellished belt and plunging neckline.  The combination of fuchsia and plum tulle with the thigh high slit made her look like a true celebrity and style icon.

Mila Kunis was gorgeous last night in this black Dior stunner.  Her elegantly pulled back hair and the Cartier accessories were the ideal complement to the gown.

Kristen Wiig is hilarious and one of my favourite comedic actresses.  Last night she pulled off one of the most elegantly dressed at the show.  Her Bill Blass gown with Fred Leighton gold accessories was simple but also so flattering.

The fishtail bottom gown, seemed to be all over the red carpet last night.  Sofia Vergara looked beautiful in her navy Vera Wang version.

Sunny yellow is a big trend for Spring 2012.  Paula Patton was so “0f-the moment,” in her gown.  She looked refreshing and beautiful in her dress.

Charlize Theron wins for the most dramatic dress of the evening.  This Dior Couture gown with the plunging neckline, thigh high slit, flowing train and over-sized bow was the essence of Hollywood glamour.

Stylist wanted: Amongst the misses last night, three stood out as the worst.  Sarah Michelle Gellar allowed her 2 year old daughter to choose her Monique L’huillier tie-dye disaster and it was obvious.  Sometimes it’s okay to say “no” to your kids.  Nicole Kidman wore a clingy dress with gold studded detail that came off as tacky, and Meryl Streep missed the mark in this cowboy inspired shirt dress.

The search for the perfect Wave

The perfect wave isn’t just the ideal surf condition but the illusive hairstyle that we often strive for but barely ever achieve ourselves.  We go to the salon and ask for it, but end up with tight curls ala Foxy Brown that are supposed to loosen throughout the day but rarely do.  Mila Kunis showed up at the SAG awards , in not only the most stunning floral chiffon Alexander McQueen gown but the best wavy hair I’ve seen in a long time.  She is perfection in every way.  The girl next door, meets sex kitten.  The waves cascade down her shoulders in an effortless, yet flirty way.   Now I’m going to tell you how to get the wavy look all on your own.  I know you’re thinking, “she’s crazy, I can’t do my own hair,” but have faith.  You can do it.  It’s actually pretty easy once you know the steps.

Step 1:  After you wash and condition your hair, divide into a middle part, and then put a styling serum in it that will help you to remove frizz and blow dry with ease.  I like either Morrocon Oil, or Keratin Complex Intense Rx with the Keratin Complex Infusion therapy.  Kerastase Nectar Thermique is good as well.

Step 2: Next, blow dry or air dry some of the moisture out.  Then divide hair into 3 or 4 sections, and using a round brush, blow dry your hair from the roots to the end.  Or if you’re lazy like I am, blow dry hair using a paddle brush.  This saves time and it’s way easier on your arm.

Step 3: Next, pin up most of your hair in a clip and take out 3 or 4 inch sections at a time, spray with a styling product or hairspray and using the iron as a straightener, pull it down to the bottom of your chin, then wrap the remainder of the hair around the 1 inch curling iron.  Make sure you either put all of the hair in or leave about a half an inch out, so you don’t have that crimping effect on the ends.  Hold for 20-30 seconds and release.    Repeat with the rest of your hair changing directions each time.

Step 4: Using your fingers spread the waves out or put the blow dry on cool to set the hair.  Spray and your done.

Now you have the perfect wavy hair that looks like you just stepped out of the salon.
